Caring for Cut Tulips at Home
When You Bring Them Home
Unwrap the bouquet and trim stems
Use a clean vase with fresh, cool water
Keep foliage above the waterline - Remove any extra
Select a vase that will support the flexible tulip stems.
You can keep the wrap on the tulips for a short period after you’ve trimmed the stems to keep the flowers upright.
Where to Place Your Tulips
Choose a cool spot away from direct sun
Keep them clear of heat sources and appliances
Nighttime coolness helps extend vase life
Tulips will naturally lean toward the light; rotating the vase keeps them upright.
Water & Ongoing Care
Change water every 1–2 days
Re-trim stems when refreshing water
Avoid flower food — tulips do best in plain water
You may notice tulips continuing to grow and shift — this is normal and part of their charm.
How Long Will They Last?
With proper care, tulips typically last 7-10 days. As they mature, petals may soften and stems may curve, creating a relaxed, natural arrangement.
A Note on Seasonality
Tulips are grown and arranged with the season in mind. Their beauty lies in their movement and impermanence — each bouquet is meant to be enjoyed in the moment.
